| Wednesday evening I was able to put my best fish to date in the boat, with Theedz, a thick 41 incher.As with all the fish I see or have hit, I ask myself "why was that fish there"? IE:bait, structure, temp, moon, etc.,etc.?? Which leads me to this post. The day was partly sunny with a north wind, air temps low 40's, which would make the surface temps in the northwest part fo the lake warmer and this is where my fish came from. Out of the top foot of water in 4' or 5' (warmest surface temp) Has anyone else used this pattern, like in the spring, or is this just a fluke?

| I think fish will stay shallow as long as the weeds are green and on sunny days when they can absorb the sun and up their metabolism. We found large schools of baitfish yesterday on the calm side of the lake in 2-3ft of water. We did not boat a musky fishing those areas but they had to be there. | |

| Warming surface water is a PART of the overall pattern. The main thing to remember is that the fish on the 'other' side of the lake have no idea there is warmer water over on the windward side. Key element here is that the water where the fish was caught may have been warmer than other areas; the fish in the warmer waters may be more active than those in cooler temps at any given time. | |
