| OK folks, let's hear it. Which split rings do you prefer, Buchers or Wolverine Super Rings? Both are strong, that's for sure.
I'll take a Wolverine any day for a few reasons. First, the Buchers are a pain in the a$$ to use, while the wolverines can be put on with you fingernail in a pinch. Next, i have heard others complain about the heat treating of bucher rings where they're too brittle and shatter. Finally, since Wolverine came out with the #5 custom, they're thin enough to use on any bait, whereas before the width was an issue in some cases. So cast your vote, choose your ring!

| bucher!!! The wolverine splitrings are no doubt strong but they are too thick for most eyes on lures. |

|
| Wolverines for me. They fit 90% of my baits and are the easiest to use. I use buchers for the smaller eyes on lures. |

| Definetly wolverine for many reasons...
1. stronger (obviously with the 7's at 650 lb test vs 2 or 3 hundred of bucher)
2. triple wrap some say its a pain, but it a lot less likely to come off
3. easier to open
4. same price as bucher

| Wolverine for sure.
Very easy to put on even without pliers, obviously the strongest and they never lose their shape after many cut hooks and new hooks.
Buchers are really a pain if you need to replace the hooks and they are way too brittle.

| To be honest,
I like the #7 Worth. I personally have never had a problem with one or seen one open up.
There 1/4 the price and plenty strong.
When the fish runs you need to BACK OFF THE DRAG and let it run!. The #7 ring is the same ring that I use on our trolling spoons for Salmon and I have had fish run out 450 feet on the line counters in a few seconds and have never had any trouble with rings opening up.
I feel it's all in how you fight the fish. |

| I would have to go with the buchers, I witnessed a 49" musky oval out a wolverine split ring, That was enough to convince me to stay with the buchers.
Good hunting,Jeff< |

| I use them all, some baits just perform better with certain split rings.
I will also back Bill Schwartz's statement....backing off the drag and learning how to free spool and thumb the line out is the best thing to do. I use a lot of very small split rings on cranks and if you are careful you wont have any problems.
Also, lowering the rod when you think the fish is going to jump will also help.
If you want to see a split ring open up in seconds with 20 mono........put your thumb down hard on the spool with a 20lb king Salmon. It will take OH>>>>about 4 seconds.[] |

| I had a size 6 worth on a believe that broke on the 10th cast or so. But on the other sie, i can snag a huge tree 20 feet down and get the lure back (with no hook) |

| Just read the post on the Wolverine bending out of shape into an oval. They are supposed to oval when pressure is applied to them, main thing is that they'll never open or break.
Shape is fine with me as long as I know a fish isn't ever going to straighten one out.

| I have used Bucher split rings for along time. I have never had any problems with them failing. |

|
| I have been using Wolverines for the last few years. No failure, easy to work with. I have replaced all the rings on my baits with Wolverines, I just have confidence in them.
Good luck, Murph |

| I think they are both great rings. Thus, I use them both. I really like the BABY Super Rings for smaller lures and line attachements. For the heavy duty hook hangers... I'll usually opt for the Wolverines.
Its great to have more than one choice for quality products!!!
