| A buddy of mine in the Twin Cities is having issues with his GlobalMap 3200 power/light button. It turns on but it will frequently go nuts on him and will start adjusting the light settings without him touching it. He thinks there may be a short or a grain of sand causing it to stick or something. Anyone have someone in the cities they've used with success for repairing Lowrances?

| It's hard to find anyone who's done it, as to my knowledge, there's no such thing as an authorized repair on Lowrance other than by Lowrance themselves. |

| Its probably a problem with the keypad itself. Easiest fix is to disconnect the power key and add a new switch. Its kind of a hack job but works and is cheap.

Location: Sun Prairie, WI | IT can be fixed. Its the key pad and there is a guy on here that made a new circuit board that goes behind the keypad. Its a very delicate job. Open unit, use heat gun to remove the epoxy holding the key pad in then unsolder it from the main board and solder in the new pad with 28 gauge wire that will make you go crosseyed trying to see what your doing. i have done this to my global map 3500c and it was a challenge to say the least. The key pad he made was for a slightly different unit so I have to modify it to get it to work. i will look to see if I can find his info and the pics he sent of his repair and look to see if I still have the pics I took. |
