Location: New Hope MN | Head up to the St. Louis for 1st week of June and am looking for some general tips. I've never fished it before and have no clue where to start.
If someone could be so kind as to point me in a general direction I would greatly appreciate it. I don't need anyone’s secret spot, just a focus in this general area/structure. Feel free to PM me as well.

| Fish will be all over the river this year with the early spring. I know that doesn't help. General area/structure? I'd look for shallow (as in less than 5') areas with weeds and warmer temps. Lots of that between Boyscout and the entries. Be careful if you head upriver past the Boyscout landing, lots of stuff to hit up there.
One specific piece of advice I will give you, though, is do not use the accesses upstream. Only use the one under the high bridge, down towards the entries. The other accesses are notorious for cars being broken into, kids throwing rocks/concrete chunks into the water at the access, and all sorts of other b.s. It's worth the extra gas to avoid those launches. |

| I have to agree. The local launches seem to always have problems with car break-ins and vandalism and such.
park and launch from underneath the high bridge aka the blatnik bridge. you can easily head up river from there.
Finding the fish in the early part of the season isn't easy. just find the weed growth and give it a go.
good luck to you, those of us who call this area home really love our local water, hope you enjoy it as well |

Location: Duluth | Would also highly recommend booking a day with Dustin Carlson as there is a ton of water out there that is unproductive. Also many things to hit if you do not know the river. |

| Nothing against Dusty or any of the guides, but save yourself the cash, and start casting weed flats. Fish can actually be quite easy to find that time of year if the weeds and weather play it cool for you. If it hasn't just rained turning the river to clay, and the weeds are not completely topped out on the shallow flats yet, get out there and make some drifts on the flats that top out at 3-5' and aren't more than 200 yards from the channel and or current. Dustin learned from hands down the best there was out there in Adam Laporte(RIP), is a great stick and its worth hiring he or Pete B if you struggle or think you need it. However spend a couple days on your own out there with the lakemaster map for the river and you'll have fun. |

Location: WI | The JAWS tourny is the first weekend in June I believe. That's mostly Lake Superior so it shouldn't affect the pressure much. June is one of my least favorite months on the river, but this year it might be better...I'm hoping. Good luck! If you like it here come fish our Muskies Inc tourny on July 14th. |

Location: WI | River is a muddy mess right now from all the rain. Might want to postpone your trip another week. Floating trees and fast current upriver. |
