alright follows are one thing...neat....how about STRIKES in one day?? not in the net/boat...but just highest # of bites...to me getting them to hit is a lot more important than getting them to follow....I think my boats best day was strikes from 17 different fish hit in one 10 hour day on the water....10 landed in the net..2nd day of opener 2008 my buddy and I put 10 in the net and I think had about ~17 strikes.
I'd have to look back but I think 17 strikes in that many hours is as good as my boat has done...how bout you guys...
to the guy that only gets 3 follows on metro lakes in MN..you might want to hire a guide! ; )

not sure how to create a Poll on here? Steve or slamr..help

I have yet to bowl a perfect game...but I do think I had three strikes in a row once and then I got a split!

Sorry Nelson!

I believe best caught in the boat is nine in a day, probably had a third that many hit and miss.

This is strictly for casting in my boat... Best ratio of the crazy days was 15 caught for 15 that hit. There have been a number of days with 8-10 in the boat with 15 plus that hit - stupid spring nippers!

Geez Will... everyone knows anyone with some skill will have a 1:1 strike to capture ratio

My best day was 14 fish in the boat casting with 3 guys in the boat... and I don't recall missing any.  But.. I tend to forget things....

Those are the days we strive to duplicate!!!

awesome day Will,,,,curious how many hours that was? as that puts it into "perspective" how crazy the action was...ie, a guy could put 12 in the boat in a "day" in the summer but be on the water 24 hrs straight...as I've done that in the summer..so it's a fish every 2 hours..while a day in the fall with say 12 fish in 10 hours is even more action .... 15 for 15 is sweeet tho...
as J says...def days we live for...

a buddy of mine put 20 in the net, him and his buddy in 12 hours from 43 to 51...now that is nuts..he knows he prob won't repeat that!

Best was 8, of which we only caught 2. Just so happened to be the only 2 that waited until they got to the boat to eat.

Best day for me was by myself again and went 6 for 9. Wish I would have had another person or two in the boat as it was a perfect weather day and the fish were going nuts. Was out on the water for 6 hours or so.

whats the size minimum???

fishing an abandoned Minn dnr pond we landed 22 in a day and sometimes 3 strikes on the same cast,,all below 35 inches,,,I think we had strikes about 3 out of every 10 casts

I have had 15 and 16. One thing though, you have to have a fairly concentrated population to do that, and active fish.

Best day 26 in the net, lost 19. Most fish were over 40, big fish 47, small fish 36.

Sorry, should have include that the 15/15 was an 11 hour day (6a - 5p). A feat likely not to be repeated in my boat but one can hope...

If you were referring to me as hiring a guide in the metro, no thank you. I would much rather have the self satisfaction of figuring out the lake and tactics needed on my own. I am 19 years old, I have been musky fishing for 5 seasons now, I didn't have the luxury of using a trolling motor all last season in my boat, I have a POS lowrance that tells you hardly anything, I do not have GPS where I can pinpoint my location/mark way points for my fish, I have to rely on my memory for night fishing and avoiding shallow hazards, I have not had the opportunity to fish highly unpressured lakes where I can really build confidence in my presentations, and I only own 2 five gallon buckets of lures. If you ask me, I'd say I do pretty well for being a rookie.

This too is relative to the waters that one fishes and how. I see most have clarified casting which give a more accurrate sample base.

I know trollers on St. Clair have had 40+ fish days but that is running 6 lines on a body of water that I think most would agree had a high density of muskies at the time. I think VHS has tapered these numbers a bit.

I would doubt there are many other waters that would support such numbers.

As far a pure activity...Brian Grote and I once landed 6 muskies in a little over an hour trolling spinnerbaits. That is a bite that I will not forget...it would seem like you would release the fish, put the boat in gear, cast out, and then take the boat out of gear, and reel in another fish. I think it took longer to net the fish and go through the release process than it did to get a bite!

Nelson-

Oh...do double #10 bucktails count if I wasn't burning them? How about if I caught one casting... but wasn't using a Tranx...does that still count??

I still stand by my bowling numbers...not much else matters.

Let's have a contest on Friday. We will see which one of us has the most hits...casting artificial baits and the loser buys at Bdubs!

7 in the net in 3 hrs 15 min after work. Also missed 2 strikes. To the original poster you can't compare wingra to a metro lake. That's embarrassing!

Yes I agree that the body of water is something that needs to be taken into account. Those of you that have flown into picture or pincher lake on ON, know what I mean. 2 boats 4 fishermen 7 hours we boated 60 muskies, I had 25. Strikes? who was counting! LOL

My best is 5 boated between 38" to 45" on a western wisconsin lake. All of the fish were caught on a mini-DepthRadier. The only time I've ever gone back to back. A 40" and 45" on two casts. Now I know this may not be that impressive in the context of a 12 hour day of fishing. But when it happens in 1hour and 30 minutes. That just a lot of fun!!
It was July 20th 1996 and the time was 7:30 am to 9:00 am. I know the date and time like the back of my hand. Because I needed to be at the church for wedding I was standing up in. If I live to be 100 and I know I never will. I'll never duplicate that morning.

Topics like this after about 10 years of musky fishing make me think i am just that bad of a musky angler!

Hell i had a 3 fish and lost a 4th at the net one day and though it was awesome, now seeing that people land over 10 fish in a day to me just blows my mind. I guess i am that bad!

IT,
Its all where you fish and how much time you can put on the water. You ask any angler whose done this long enough and they'll all say a 3 fish day is a great day. Anywhere and anytime.

My best was 10 fish boated in about 2-1/2 hours. This was trolling with 4 rods so I don't know how many strikes we had that we didn't catch. LOL!

how about STRIKES in one day??

I ran 16 consecutive a few years back between my second and third games. It was frustrating to no end because there was a perfect game in there but the first few frames of game two and the last few frames of game three were a mess. Couldn't convert the stupid 10 pin on a couple of them so it hosed what would've been a pretty solid series.

You shouldn't be apologizing for that, I'm always happy for a 3 fish day, and where I fish a 1 fish day is pretty successful. But you should also never limit yourself on the upside, eventually you are out there on the right day, and you never quite know when it might be.
