I am a Blues/Classic Rock/Metal Head at heart, but I was a fan. I stopped listening to Hip Hop somewhere between NWA and Dr. Dre, but Run DMC are the guys who really put rap on the map by crossing it over to the mainstream. I heard that they had just been on tour with Aerosmith.

| No, Jam Master J was not a Musky Joneser. He was an innovator in the entertainment scene. Just like the Greatful Dead, The Ramones, Metallica, and Kurt Cobain.
Run DMC brought the world Rap.
This was a song called "Peter Piper" and it was a basic tribute to Jam Master J. So here goes:

| You can look at mtv.com to find the story, but basically, someone came into the studio and shot him and one other. Jay was the only one killed.
RUN DMC didn't have any enemies, so this is a very weird occurrence. | |

| I'm a big fan! They never even mentionned it here on the radio. Dammit! Yes, Run DMC were, are and will always be the best hip hop band in the history of music. They were innovative, they had guts and never sold out. This is a black day in music history!
Does anybody know more about the shooting? I don't understand it either. Run DMC is just about the most respected hip hop band I know.
