Where is everyone going for the Northern Opener? I am between 3 lakes in Vilas (one of the Arbs or Wildcat).
Plan on throwing a Subwalk, #6 Blue fox spinner, and maybe a SSR or a Black River Bait topwater.

Just kidding about the title too.

I won't be able to get up to Vilas until 6/5/12, but your mention of Wildcat got me excited.... love fishing that little lake! Might have to spend 1/2 day there when i'm up in early June...

I've never really solely concentrated on Musky's before but from what I hear it is a good lake to pick up a few so that is what i am hoping to do. Good spot for a rookie to start hopefully.

I would agree with that. Also had good success with bass/crappie here too. don't overlook Big Kitten (small lake connected). as you come out of the channel work the entire shoreline on your right. It drops off real quickly but i've caught a few here. Good luck.

Were you the guy who was also messaging about Lund Predators a while back? i have one and think i commeneted on your questions. did you buy one?
if i'm thinking of wrong guy, just ignore.

My parents have a place on Nokomis, boat traffic for opener of walleye was ridiculous.

Ben I'll be on Grindstone. Send me a PM if you get set up to do so. I have a cabin there and it's always good to share info on the clearwater chains.

I'll be bouncing around to a few Langlade, Lincoln, and Oneida County lakes. We've got to find some active fish to return to on Tuesday night for the first league night. The Pelican Lake league should be a great time this year.

Ok guys a little advice please:
Since this is my first time targetting musky and I am going solo I am sure I am over thinking this but here is what I have tied on:
Bluegill colored spring dawg
Black River Bait Musky Freak
#6 Blue Fox Buck tail

With the cold front looking like it's going to hit on Saturday are these decent choices for Wildcat? Water temp will provbably be in the low 60's I am guessing? Like I said I am probably overthinking it but had to ask.

Hellhound and/or a Twitch bait in the weedy bay east/northeast of the islands ... fish will eat a hellhound.

VMS is correct, the real opener is June 2nd, but to shake the rust off this weekend I will be heading to the Manitowish Chain.

Twin Cities MN dude Steve

I love northern Wisc. It's so beautiful up there. I grew up since I was a baby camping on the Chip. Memorial is always my birthday weekend and musky opener is Wisc, so what a great weekend for me!

Thanks for the tips guys, if you see a 6'7 guy in a black Lund Predator on Saturday say hi. If you see me fighting a fish come over and take my pictures since I will most likely be solo.

VMS stole the words out of my fingers! I'll be hitting it hard June 2nd! I was considering going to the St. Louis to break in my elbows but that didn't work out so well for me last year.

I'm breaking in the elbows and back this weekend south of Ashland...so I would be another one of those MN dudes in Cheeseland for their opener... It's just the warm up for real thing, but a chance to get something to hit. There will be some walleye work too for a dinner bonus.

Ended up going to Bearskin (had a graduation party I forgot about and needed to get back before 1) fished from 5:30 to about 11am. Lots of other boats, didn't see anyone catch anything. Didn't raise a fish myself. Tried Grandma's, bulldawg, bucktail, and a drifter musky stalker. Some big bass were shallow spawning though.
