Subject: MuskieFirst Newsletter

As MuskieFirst grows and expands we are constantly looking for new and better ways to provide quality information/community involvement for our members and viewers as a whole....and we have come up with a number of ideas, here is one that we wanted to present to the general viewing public to see your reaction:
MuskieFirst Newsletter
-emailed to all interested, a solicited email (NO selling of the list to ANYONE, not to worry)
-done quarterly
-3+ articles from Pro-Staffers
-Editorial articles
-Member articles
-Photo/big fish story page
-Product Reviews
-Classified Section (boats, equipment, etc)
-Outings Section (past & future)
-Ashton Events Section
-Boatless looking for Boatful section (like a muskie personals section)
-Tournament Section
-Muskie Biology Section
-Home Builders Section (?)

Give it some thought, tell us HERE if you think this is an idea you would want to be interested in recieving something like this. It would be done via email, so it would be free!

Sounds great, our fire department does a similar "e-zine" every month and the members really like it. It's very easy to do in MS-Word format.

Slamr,
I think the newsletter is a fantastic idea. My company has a monthly newsletter which is very informative. I think even if you have your hand on the pulse of a organization, or is this case, a group of crazed musky fisherman, you are still always going to miss some important information. A newsletter will help everyone keep upadted on MF events, important topics, etc.
Great idea Slamr!

GREAT IDEA!

I like it Slamr! Would it be possible to get a section (however small or large) from a participating marine biologist? Realizing that experience can be the greatest teacher, it might be nice to hear from those that have researched certain areas of aquatic life and may have an explanation for behavioral patterns that we all have run into at one time or another. Sign me up, I'm in!

If you want to see one that is out already, check out www.gofishohio.com. They have a (quasi-)quarterly newsletter that accompanies their website. MF could do it up right, go for it.
I have also suggested to the powers-that-be that MF consider adding a Personal Messsage feature, where profiles can be accessed with the user's permission to send personal messages to fellow members. Saves cluttering the discussion page with "Hey, call me about next weekend" kind of messages. GFO has such a feature, works well. think about it. m[]

Slambo:
What about Dan Iserman for a biologist? A Muskie fihserman and a Bio dude. Dont know if he would be interested or free.

Thad:
George is only a marine biologist when saving great big fish (whales). Otherwise he likes to be an architect.[]

All signs pointing towards this being a go! BUT, scratch out Newsletter, insert MAGAZINE!!! We are envisioning a 13-15 page document that will be printable. The other companies sell it to you, WE'RE GONNA GIVE IT AWAY!
We are still very open to suggestions at this point, please tell us what you think would make this a more useful/interesting item!

I would like to read some more about how-to and why-to fish certain types of structure, not so much about what to use because that's something everybody decides for himself anyway. Most articles in Europe are just promotion stunts for certain lures and I know many of these are worthless. I don't care if the world record was caught on a swim whizz or a live sucker, I want to know why or what improves the chances of catching a good sized fish.

I would like to read about approaching spots (wind is a big factor in this), which tools to add to my arsenal of tackle that can help to get a better presentation, ...

Just a few tips
