Looking to hire a guide to fish the Madison chain and looking for some references. Right now I am trying to decide between Tauchen and Hanson, please be respectful with your opinions or feel free to PM me.

Thanks for the help.

Both are top notch. My suggestion would be to call and talk to both of them about what you are looking to get out of the guide job. The date or time period you want to fish is also important. Some guides excel at certain patterns and times during the season. Make sure you talk about options and the patterns when you look at available dates to book. Some people want to learn new patterns and techniques and others prefer to fish the way they always do. Trolling, Top water, Bucktails, live bait, dawgs, etc.
Talk it over with the guides your interested in and your choice will be easy.

I would pick Hanson. I have gone out with him 3 times with my dad and he put us on fish every time up to 48.5" and he is full time on the chain the entire season.
Depending on when you want to go Lee might be in Minn.
Both are good
Good Luck,

Brad Nelson doesn't guide. He is too busy making leaders and staring in the mirror at Gold's gym to be a guide.

Waldera I'm gonna throw you in the lake in 2 weeks! ahahahha that was good...I 'guide' my friends and that's enough to just about drive me crazy, no desire to take others out! ; ) as far as the question, both are top notch guides and will put you where the fish are...why pick one.....hire em both!

He is the only angler I have ever met who can fall out of the boat and not get his hair wet. Can Hanson or Tauchen do that??

Brad Nelson does make the best sandwiches I have ever had in a boat too. If he were to guide... I am quite sure he would get very large tips for his sandwich making prowess alone!!!

Hair Nation, top-notch sammies and a GQ auro in the boat at all times.

The competition is lucky Nelson doesn't guide!

If he dove in, his hair wouldn't get wet.

Yes, both Jeff and Lee have excellent reputations. Be thankful that Brad does not guide. Before I go out with him, I always stop at the health clinic for a booster shot of patience and tolorance! He is an awsome musky hunter, though. He s taught me a lot. Because of his Louie Spray type fishing prowess, his nazi-like tendencies in the boat, and his great hair, thats why I call him "Herr Spray"! See ya in Vilas Saturday, Herr Spray. You know I love ya! -- mj
