Location: Eastern Ontario | What is the deal with Depth Raiders people seem to want or specify Pre-ROI?
How can you spot the difference and does it aply to other Boucher lures?
What about the current crop?
Thanks |

Location: Crystal Lake, IL | If I'm not mistaken it means Pre "rattle on inside." The ones on the market today have the rattles in them and the ones without the rattles just seem to put more fish in the boat. Either way they are deadly when twitched properly! |

roi means roberts outdoors inc.. they took over making bucher baits for awhile so any bucher bait before that is pre-roi.. |

Location: West Chicago, IL | Pre ROI were made with a different plastic and the rattle makes a vastly different sound |

Location: Eastern Ontario | My understanding is the current ones are made by the same people that make the Sledges
Checking mine I seem to have 6 pre roi and two Roberts sound is definetly different.
My 2 oldest ones have slightly larger hooks with longer shanks |

| They switched to a white plastic instead of clear plastic for the tail sections. It was some issue with molds. The ones with white plastic underneath are junk.... Trolling even with hooks T'd they burn through that soft plastic. My older ones have held up for a very long time the white plastic ones are trash in a few days of hard trolling. I asked Joe Bucher himself this winter if the new raiders are clear plastic again. he said he did not know and I was the first person to point this out to him, which suprises me. And never heard back if they were.
I won't buy anymore till I find out for sure.

| I agree with Jeff. The hooks will wear through the soft plastic on the ROI and later d-raiders in no time. Even with the hooks T'd, I've had a hole worn through the plastic after only a couple trolling outings.
The differences in the plastic also seem to create slightly difference sound with the rattle chamber.
The ROI and post-ROI d-raiders still catch fish, though. They just don't last very long. |

Location: Oconto Falls, WI | I know the newer Raiders that are chrome are clear underneath as they are now clear Raiders. Therefore I would think all of the new ones are clear. |
