Picked up a Revo Toro 50 5.4 at Gander Mountain the other day (I did not know they were still available). Comments on using it as a reel for cow-girls. Use a Toro Winch now. Thinking that this would have more speed but would it be to hard to pull. I am comparing it to an older 6500 reel that I burned up the gears on blades previously. Dou you think I will have the same issue? What purpose would you use the reel for if you had it?

I love my 5:4 it will handle double 10's but the winch is more suited for that! i use my 5:4 and has for blades up to double 10 and they both work well

I love my Toro 5:4.1 for 10s and 13s. Best reel I own. I think I works great. I use it for everything else too, but primarily my blades/top water reel. I am suprized you were able to find one. Did you get a good deal on it as they are discontinued by Abu? The winch defiantly has more power for the dbl 10s, but the 5:4 can more them faster through the water... just a little more work is all. but we are all used to that.

Nice find! I love mine, and bought it over the winch since I like the more versatile gear ratio. I also don't often burn dbl 10s but pull them in at a decency pace without too much straight. I have lots of hours on that reel, on bucktails and everything else. No mechanical issues over 3 seasons.

I use my Toro 50's for bass and in the early season for rattle traps and smaller baits. If you bass fish, buy a Toro 60 HS and trade out the gears. 6.4 is perfect for bass fishing especially if you are using a carolina rig or jig/pig.

Yea, the Winch is better for throwing big blades but the Toro 5.4 is one of the most versatile reels you can get. Handles 10s with ease to me.
