| My Basement Brothers, I'm heading into the hospital tomorrow for some surgey to help to reduce or eliminate the constant pain in my back. They are going to put a computerized pump about the size of a hockey puck somewhere between the top of my hip and my last rib. From there they are going to run a catheter from the pump into my spinal canal, and that's how I'll get pain medication from now on. They can't fix my back, but this will be a great way to minimize the pain. I'm hoping to be able to stand at the bandsaw, router and sander again after the recovery time. I hope that I can get back to painting more than one lure at a time. I'll keep you posted on what happens, I just hope that the surgeon is as skillful as we are!
Thanks my Brothers of The Basement,
Beaver |

| So far, so good.
They went in through my abs and destroyed my 6-pak 8D The incision pain is bad, and they started the meds for my back at a low rate, so I'm not getting much relief. I see the DR in 10 days so he can dial it up a little at a time.
I asked him to put the pump on the right side and he asked why. I told him,"Because I hold mu muskie rods on my left side. One good hook-set and that pump will shoot out of my butt-hole.
Thanks to everyone. I fealt very 'at ease' when they wheeled me into the operating room.
Now, to get back in shape of some sort....after 6-8 weeks of recooping.

| Got in to see the Doc on Friday. He boosted the dose to what it was during a trial that I went through. I am happy to report that after almost 20 years in chronic pain, my pain level since Friday is ZERO! Another week for things to settle down, and then I can start walking and doing other normal day to day stuff. I can actually stand up for more than 20 minutes with no pain. No more pills going through my entire body, less than a ml. of medicine pumped into my spinal canal throughout the day and I have no pain.
Thank you and God Bless to all of my well-wishers.

| Just came up from the basement, what a mess! It was like 'The Pit and The Pendulum' down there.8O Boxes and boxes of all different kinds of glider bodies. Hundreds of bodies all cut to shape and that's it. Now I just have to router, sand, weight, balance, fill holes, seal, paint,ETex 3 times......I got way more than enough to keep me busy. Then there's the boxes of cranks, some with lip slots, some without. Ahh yes, and the lumber pile. Mahogany for cranks, 3-4x6's, and my prized figured CA Redwood 4 long ones and several short ones, all with pencil tracings on them. Some striped, and some with really ornate figuring. The stiped ones are going to be the next in the 'Gods's Gift' line. A little paint on the belly, some green/gold Kameleon and you have a brown perch. The figured ones with swirls and stripes and more are going to be sucker gliders. I don't know where to start, but I have to take it slow. I think by next week I'll re-seal a few HRs that a very patient guy sent to me years ago.
I can't wait to start, but the doctor pounded in my head...."We only helped to manage your pain, we can't fix your back, so you still have the same restrictions and you have to pace yourself or you'll undo what we've done." At least he didn't give me a cast count. Like all the pro pitchers...100 pitches....you're done. I can see it...cast,click,cast,click,#*^@, that's 50 have to sit down. Yea, that'll happen
