Location: So. Illinois | Unless you have an extremenly large aqaurium, a musky is not a very good option as they will outgrow their tank within a year to 18 mos.
I ended up purchasing a red-fin pickeral and could not be happier. Looks and acts just like a muskie but will not get any bigger than 12-14 inches. Really cool pet. You can purchsed them on-line from a number of aquarium - fish suppliers for a cost of around $30.00 delivery by overnight mail. I had to wait about 6 weeks but my pickeral arrive alive and in great shape. Have had him now for over three years.
Grass pickerals are also a great option if you have trouble finding a red-fin.
