What is the driest super braid out there? I heard cortland spectron and spiderwire ultracast are quite dry.

im sorry it was too easy, but 832 kicks off a lot of water which is nice in summer, but your fingers get real cold in cold weather

I remember masterbraid retaining a lot of water, my thumb looked like a prune after a few hours of casting

Location: Hayward, WI | I use both Cortland Masterbraid and Suffix 832. I'm don't know if they are the driest, but they seem pretty dry to me. I tried PowerPro years ago and the Cortland and 832 seem to be quite a bit more dry than the PowerPro was. PowerPro might be a different animal than it was when I used it 6 or 7 years ago...

I actually really like TuffLine... I've had to many incidents with Power pro backlashing/snapping and wont buy it anymore, although they did come out with a different braid this year that looks similar to the texture/braid of TuffLine, cant remember the model of it but it is power pro forsure and has a brown color. Might be worth a shot

I've never quite been able to figure why "dry line" is so important to so many people. While I typically use the Cortland products I don't think they are quite as dry as some of the other lines out there. I fish all season long till ice up and I just don't see dryness as an issue. Educate me.

I like PP when new for being drier. the 832 i had was quite wet once it started breaking in. Not to mention bleeding like crazy.

Well, Pete, when it's 35 degrees and windy, it's nice to have less spray on your hands than more. I've found that it doesn't matter as much what line you use - it all holds more water when it's older than it does fresh off the spool. I've started changing my line in the fall for this reason. Besides - we spend the summer fishing rocks, cutting line off pretty much daily. Another benefit is knowing your line is fresh for those sucker hooksets!

no it bleeds like crazy.. look like someone killed a martian on the bow of my boat. Maybe i got a bad lot, but my shirt was covered and i had about 500 green spots all over the front of my white boat. It bleeds.. and digs in very well. |

Line dryness is an issue for me because my thumb gets soaked and pruned from touching the spool after a cast, and eventually my power handle gets wet and slippery. That's why i'm trying to find the driest braid for casting this season.

I found my 832 to be very dry. The issue I had with it is that the gore fiber will eventually peel out of the line, causing buildup on the levelwind. This did not cause any noticeable issues, but it was a bit of mess at the end of the season.
