Location: Mapleton Mn | Looking to head down ther this spring. Never been on the lake before just looking for some general info. Not sure where the landings are on this lake. Also is there any bait shops around? Any info would be great.

Location: Green Bay, WI | Not sure about Clear Lake, but the Berkley factory outlet is in Spirit Lake, about an hour or so west of there. If you can afford the time diversion, it may well be worth your time. It was like being in a candy store the two times I have visited.
Bring your checkbook...

Location: Plymouth IA | Crazy minnow Co. is the bait shop they have a website. Landing in downtown Clear lake and across from the boat works, east shore. South shore has DNR landing at Ritz beach, north side on what is called the little lake has McIntosh state park and a one in Ventura, IA. I use Ritz or McIntosh. Dan at the crazy minnow can give you the scoop. The water is a bit low now. IA DNR website has map and info on landings,
http://www.iowadnr.gov/idnr/Fishing/WheretoFish/LakesPondsReservoir...
And the outlet store is 2 hr drive at the speed limit and can have some really good factory 2nd and blem deals and sometimes not so much.

Location: Alexandria, Minnesota | Cool lake.....Good shallow water bite near the Bull Rushes, but make sure you put some White Vinegar in your livewells and wash your boat good when you are done fishing the lake, because it is absolutely infested with Zebra Mussels. |

Any relation to Dan I used to work with at KSAX?
Yes there are a lot of Zebra Mussels in Clear Lake. I just put plugs in livewell intake and exit at the back of the boat so no Zeb's get in the boat before going on infested waters. Then a trip to a local carwash that has really hot water to wash down the boat before going to any other water.
From the nice folks at the MN DNR "To kill a zebra mussel the water needs to be at least 140 degrees F. The larvae of a zebra mussel is called a veliger. These are microscopic organisms and they can survive in water that may be stored in your boat, bait bucket or bilge water. The veliger are not as hardy, and typically if you power wash your boat they will die from impact. Zebra mussels can attach to any hard surfaces, but not usually fish." |
