| Here is a typical muskie outing in the life of The Waterwolf.
Woke up at about 11:00am on Monday, ( I work nights),Did some things around the house, played with the dogs, etc.
Left for work at about 4:30 pm
Got off work at 3:00 am.
Went home, made something to eat, threw gear into back of the truck, hooked up the boat.
Left for the lake at about 4:30am.
Picked up fishing buddy.
Arrived at lake about 5:15 am.
fished until about 2:00 pm.
In the approximately 8 or so hours that I was on the water, we managed to raise 4 fish, one of which attempted to eat my 8 inch Jake, but was unsucessful.
Left lake about 2:15 pm.
Drove 1/2 hour to a different lake where my brother and his family were vacationing.
Sat around and relaxed, had a couple beers, talked stupid, you know.
Left for home about 6:30pm.
Dropped fishing buddy off at home.
Arrived back home about 7:30 pm.
Unhooked boat, put away gear.
Cleaned out old refrigerator. (compressor went out)
Had supper with the wife.
Played with the dogs.
Took a shower.
Sat on the computer for awhile, checking the Muskie Message Boards.
Went to bed about Midnight.
So...
According to my calculations, I was awake from about 11:00am on Monday, until about midnight on Tuesday.
That is 37 hours.
I do this quite often in order to pursue my favorite finny friend.
I was just wondering of any of you guys give up this much sleep in pursuit of old Esox.
Please tell me I am not alone.

| You are NOT alone,I have had schedules like that so many times over the years, I couldn't list it all. I'm too old to be up 37 hours straight for anything anymore, but have been known to fish an entire day for muskies on a couple hours sleep! | |

| I worked 2nd shift until April of this year, when I went to 1st shift. At least 3 trips last year, I would get home about 2am, work on getting things ready to go and would be picked up by my fishing partner by 6am and sleeping in the truck on the way. Usually worked out to be a 36 - 40 hour day. Then get to sleep about 5 - 6 hours, fish all day and so on. I thought I was getting alot of sleep if I got 15 - 20 hours from Thur morning to Sunday night. On the first out of town trip this year, I was ready to go at 6am with a good nights sleep and the same fishing partner wasn't ready until noon. [:(] | |

| I'am a third shifter so any thing I do usally end up costing me sleep. Can't go like I could in my late teens and twenties but If I want to do something you just do it.The worst part is the drive home, that stinks.I live an hour and a half from nearest muskie water so there always drive time.Lot's of Mountain Dew and crank up the tunes Dennis Blume | |

| LOLx100......Daggone dude! Sounds like the younger Rik on midnight once upon a time. Like Steve, no way could I do it now...but you know, I haven't tried it in awhile either! At least you include EVERYONE in your family so they can't say anything. Personally though it's people like yourself that are dependable + know what it means to do what needs to be done so my hat is off to you bro! [:sun:] | |
| |
| Haven't ever worked all night then fished, but worked all day, then stayed up all night traveling to my favorite musky spot, to get there at hitting time in the morning...afternoon...night. | |
| |
| Been there, done it, getting too old to do it anymore... Musky Alan | |

| I have worked third shift for almost 8 years now. I can relate to the all night and day fishing and hunting trips. If a don't have to work, I will get up the night before and stay up to get things ready. Then fish all day long and yes the drive home really sucks. I can't believe I haven't crashed into something after falling asleep MANY times. Really gets the heart pumpin' | |

| Liljoe:
i feel your pain. I am currently on 3rd shift so when i get out on my days off, it will be an evening/night thing. But, i have done the get off in the morning/fish during the day thing. That is a butt kicker!!! I need to quit work and win the lottery. who is with me!!!!!! | |

| Isnt this sport great. You lose more sleep trying to tackle the queen of fish, more than the queen you marry. I try to get out before work, and sometimes after. The weekends are usually night fishing to avoid boat traffic without missing any work around the house. Lets keep everyone happy on the homefront ya know?!? So I never really sleep until maybe mid-week and then I feel guilty because I should be fishing, I mean doing something around the house. Someday I might just get a roof on our house instead of fishing. Naw that tarp is still styling, and keeping us dry. My uncle always used to tell me. "Kid you'll sleep when yer dead, so lets go fishing" Hunting was added into that also. | |
