Guys I am having problems painting createx paints, it appears that when I spray it it likes to bubble and not go on evenly like I am spraying on oil. Was wondering if its my primer. Its getting very frustrating striping baits, I had 3 that looked good then today I went to do some art work to the heads and its not going on then it starts to run in some spots and some spots wont take?

Can't help you on that one as that is why I don't like water based paints. But there are a lot of people on here that do so just hang in there and one of them will help you out.

First, double check to make sure that you don't have any water in your compressor or line, then make sure you are shaking the paint really well. Sounds simple, but it may help. If that is not helping, identify if it is only certain types of paints ie opaques, transparents, or pearls etc. Opaques will be most forgiving to work with because they contain higher solids mostly based from talc powder and alkyds....anyway then you will need to try different primers, personally I like kilz or other sandable sealers that penetrate grain well and sand with ease. It makes no difference if your primer is solvent borne or water, but if you use a primer that "lays up" or is slick when its dry, createx will tend to peel or bubble naturally because they are thin, slow drying, and want to crawl over the slick or shiny surface more. Try to dry in between a couple thin coats, if you don't see the problem in the second or third coats, then most likely it is your primer or surface prep. Hope that helps.

you hit it on the head nmuskyz the primer does tend to be smooth when dries, and I have noticed that it will peal if scratched. I shake the snot out of the bottles before I use it, I am finding more of the problem with pearlized createx. Keep the info coming guys I have tried the cheep $1 cans of gray primer and that stuff sucked now I switched to Krylon primer white (rattle can) from Wally world and got the same effect at times. I may want to try a different primer I gues.

I stopped using primers. Createx sticks to epoxy quite well. I use thinned epoxy to seal the wood, then a normal coat to give me a smooth surface to paint on. This works for me. None of my baits have peeled.
