Can anyone tell me their thougts on the Okuma Induron? I just picked one up as a spare and want to know if there is anything I should know regarding this reel. Would also like to know what it can handle. Will it run double 10's? Where can I get a power handle for it, or is it even needed? Thanks guys.

Mine reels really smooth, but casts kinda like crap. The thumb bar catches or sticks and sometimes engages mid cast. It pulls dbl 10's very well. Mine came with a power handle

What does the thumb bar actually catch on? Is it somethng internal? Good to hear on the dbl 10's.

Anyone else have experience with this reel?

The early Indurons had an issue Okuma took care of, I have six running well with no issues. If I was to buy a reel right now, it would be the Isis. Better build, but twice the money the Induron was.

I take mine apart and lube the bearings, spool shafts, and gearing before use, Mine have done well. I do NOT throw 10s with mine. It's a $100 class reel and wasn't built for that. The power handle added the tendency for the reel to engage during the cast, so I'd get a large paddle handle for the reel.

I suggest a few folks need to examine the atmosphere here.

Steve, Thanks for the heads up on these reels. I bought one as a spare and do not intend on throwing 10's all day with it. Would it be safe to say in your opinion that it could handle it if need be? Also where would you suggest getting a large paddle handle for this reel. Actually I am not so sure I know the difference. Thanks again.

Sure, you can throw them with it if you keep it lubed and don't intend to burn 'em. I'd use it for gliders, cranks, topwater, and smaller bucktails.

I have 2 of them that had to be fixed because i was throwing large/heavy baits,... and burning Cowgirls,.....Since They were fixed (3yrs.ago) they work just fine for smaller lures like gliders, cranks, smaller bucktails, spinner bails, regular bulldawgs, suicks, reefhawgs, ect. and topwater as Steve has said.
