Just bought an HDS 8 with the base maps. I do most of my fishing in southeastern and northern Wisconsin but spend a fair amount of time on Lake Michigan too. Wondering what is going to be the best chip to put into my unit to get decent maps for inland lakes and also Lake Michigan. I looked and the unit right now doesnt have any information for Lake Michigan

I would go with navionics just cause thats what i always had...lots of people like lakemaster though...depends on the lakes you fish mainly as one chip may be better than the other on a particular lake

If you can find a Lakemaster Wisconsin, I would buy it.  I have found those maps to be quite acurate.

Navionics has a single chip with mn, ws, mi and dakotas. I prefer lakemasters but since the recent deal with hummingbird I may be making the switch.

Go to each of their websites and look at the lists of HD contour (1ft contours) lakes they offer. Pick the one that has the most of the lakes you fish.

You know to be honest I don't really like the one foot contours.
