Ice is off up at our tiger muskie lake and just curious whats everyones early spring ice off go to tactics and baits are? I have never fished ice off this early in the year and just curious what you are using and what not. Up at pineview res. in utah holds some behemoth tigers and the avg. fish is from 36-42" and healthy as can be. Main forage is perch, gills, and crappie, in the lake however there are carp, smallies and lmbs bullheads and an occasional stray trout that has come in the res via the northfork river..

Thanks for your input in advance

Look for early weeds in the water. Many weeds die off in the winter but some areas retain weeds all year long. The prespawn Muskies are going to be in or near those weed patches because that is were the bait fish will be spawning.
Drop some live gills down in the holes of the weeds and hang on.

Fish the deeper weed edges too if there are any. I had good success there in the early season

I won't be musky fishing til fall. I got a feeling I'll have more through the off season til then, on walleye crap.
