| bought a half dozen of the squirrly baby squirkos this winter. Had a chance to get out today and see how they run and to say the least was not one bit impressed. 65 lb line 130 flouro leader stay lock snap and swivel. this same set will make the 6.5 phantoms 6 super ap's and the 4.5 phantoms walk like a dream. I know alot of guys on here swear by them in the spring was looking for insight on makeing these baits walk thanks in advance |

Location: madison wisconsin | I run a single wire leader, works alot better. Run that on all my jerkbaits |

Location: Sycamore, IL | Try not to compare the Squirko to a phantom...Squirko's don't "walk" like a phantom...they are much more erratic:)! I haven't used the little ones yet but plan to this year...I agree with the single strand leader tip for jerk baits. Hope that helps they are one of my fav's...

| For sure use a wire leader. The ones i use are from Stealth tackle and have no snap just split ring attached straight to the wire. They are very erratic and make alot of direction changes. Make sure you are using a MH rod for these also. They are a small bait and not ment to be used on big heavy jerkbait rods. I use a 7'6" MH from Musky Innovations. I have no problem working the baits with this set up. Was my number 1 bait for May last year.

Location: mad chain | I agree you can't compare the phantom and squirko 2 different baits. Try the wire leader and that will help, but remember the squirko is NOT a side to side bait. You will be very happy with the results once you fish it!!! |

| Here's a video of a pool demo for the Baby Squirko. Definitely not the same as a Phantom. I would try the 130lb fluorocarbon with a solid wring instead of the swivel. Either downsize the snap or swap it with a split ring. That should show an improvement.

Location: Contrarian Island | make short snaps w slack in your line and you'll have better results than leaving the line 'taught'...i use a 180 lb 10" fluoro leader with solid rings at both ends and get great action ..no issues...they jump all over the place..fish like em |
