Location: Wisconsin | If you have a HDS 4.1 Gen 1 or Gen 2, you can get your navionics chip updated, and also keep updated with Navionics Fresh Data service.
Also, got a free PC app that I can mark up with waypoints on my computer and it will send to the card and my iphone. Not sure if this means I won't need to get a new chip, just update the one I have. That would be pretty nice if that was the case.

| That's a sweet combo of HDS and Navionics chart card.
The Navionics card will let you get free content updates for one year. After that one year, the card will continue to work fine with the HDS chart plotter; you just won't be getting free updates to the content when you plug the card into a computer. Somewhere down the road, 2013 or 2014 or whatever suits you, it would be time to buy a new card with all the new chart data on it (plus another year of free downloadable updates).
