I've made a few glide baits here a few days ago and tested them out and can't get the side to side action I want. The bait does a lot of forward gliding. Can anyone help?

Try putting the weight in the back of the bait. Mess around with the positioning of it until you get something you like. Each body style should have a different sweet spot or combination of spots. Keep trying different spots and make multiple lures so you can try them side by side. Mason

alot has to do wih your positioning of the weight , i find that the balance point is a good place to start for a good side to side. i find this by putting all the hardware on the bait and then emerse in water and loosely hold the bait to see where it sits level under the water, that is where i will drill the hole for the lead. it also is important to make sure your centered with the placement in the body , so the lure does not tilt to one side or the other. this is the fun part of gliders all the variables to consider especially with wood, types of wood make alot of difference too, imo hardwoods make better gliders at least for me. have fun with it it's addictive to say the least

I do the same thing as above except I lay the lure on the edge of a table to find the balance point instead of sinking in water. Another thing is keep the weight as low in the body as u can. Sometimes I add weight higher to get a little belly roll but too much too high and the bait will barrel roll.
