| I know you guys beat the hell out of the topic of reels but, I am looking for an all purpose reel. Most guys where I fish use red Octobers and occasionally another lure here and there. I am not going to throw any big blades, an occasional single bladed lure. I am looking for a reel that is sub $200. I can not Go over this price, I know in the long run its better to invest in a more quality reel but I just don't have any more to spend. |

| I'd recommend something that has a thumb bar and a standard paddle handle. I've never used the Isis, but it's been mentioned on here a few times and I'm giving it some thought. It seems like it's somewhere between a Cardiff and a Calcutta B.
If you can't find any on eBay Overstock/Outlet and MTO have them for $180. The MSRP is $199. |

Location: Lake "y" cause lake"x" got over fished | I would look for a slightly used Revo Toro. Either the Winch, HS, or the older 5.4:1. It is a great all around reel. MSRP they are out of your range, But I have seen some crazy rediculous deals on EBay in the last week or so... Just a thought |

I don't know what you consider crazy deals on eBay? I have been watching these reels all winter and it is rare to even find a used one under 225 in the 60 models. I would say your best bet is a Cardiff or a Abu Record 60 hc. |

catchandrelease The Isis is an awesome reel. Its got a thumb bar, but its not a full thumb bar that goes across the whole spool. When you cast you can put your thumb next to it and IMO its better because you thumb the spool easier. Also the paddle handle is nice and big I love it but the just my opinion. You really can't beat it for the price |

Location: Central Minnesota | Saltist is a great reel for that price point. Get the 20 Saltist. There is also good deals on Diawa Luna 300's on sale used on the Buy/Sell forum. You might be able to find a used Shimano Calcutta B for around $200. Keep an eye out for good deals on the Buy/Sell or go with a new Saltist 20. All these options would fit you well. |

In the last week I saw one go for $185, and another go for $200. I also saw a Calcutta 400b go for $175. Not saying they are on there everyday. but patients is a virtue...
though I do agree... quick fix, saltist, Abu record, cardiff or Isis. all good IMO |

Location: Sun Prairie, WI | People are going to think this is nuts, but for what you're looking for, get a couple Abu Garcia 6500c3's. Take care of them and they will perform for you with what you are going to be doing. If something does go wrong, and over time it will like ANY brand of reel, after all these are machines with moving parts, they are simple to have fixed. |

| when I first started out I had 6501 c3, 6601 c4, and record 61HC, sold two and kept the record 61HC, it was a great reel and I think it would work well for what youre looking for. Those are the ones I have experience with but have heard good things about cardiff and there are some good deals for revo toros floating around too |
