I have decided I am going to get a fourth reel this year. I already bought a Saltist and I own two revo's. a 61 and a winch.

I am looking at either getting a Shimano Cardiff or a Abu Garcia 6600. Anyone have either or both of these that could shed some light for me, which is smoother, what will last longer. I love both my other Abu's but their a lot higher end then what I am looking at to get. It will be used mainly for small stuff and will not get nearly as much use as my other three. Biggest bait I'll be throwing with it would be maybe 3.5 oz. Its pretty much my "take a break for five minutes". so instead of taking a break and I can throw some smaller stuff.

Any thought are much appreciated.

thanks

Go with the Cardriff. I had an Abu 6600 and it only lasted 2 seasons and I wasn't throwing any big baits.

I wouldn't think to trade my SSC3's for a cardiff in a million years. Grease them after about 40 hours of use and they will last you a long time.

I've got 5 different 6600 C4's..two of them I've used for the last five years. I havent had too many major issues with them. I've changed the main gear/pinion gears in them when they start to sound rough. One had an anti-reverse bearing go out, but Abu sent me a brand new C4..no charge. I tear them down every winter and oil/grease them. Before I had kids, I was on the water 4-5 days a week using them. I know other people have had issues with them though.

I use a cardiff as a back up to my TE"s and have had not problems. I like the reel very much. As for the Abu's I don' t own any so won't comment on them.

Lots of threads on the cardiff these days, but that's what i would recommend. they are IMO much better then any Abu 6500

Yep, after reading about 40 threads I think that is the one I am going to go with, unless I find another used Revo for 150 or less like I did last year. But if not... then Cardiff it is!
