Going to order a TI Mega heavy XXH 9' rod for mag Dogs and other big rubber. I need a low budget reel. Any suggestions? I dont want junk, but I also dont want to spend a ton of Money.

You can buy a cheap reel this year & when that doesn't hold up & breaks you can buy another cheap reel that won't last or you can spend the extra money on the right reel (Shimano Calcutta TE) now & won't need to worry about needing a new reel next season. You can save some money by buying a used Calcutta TE.

I have a TI XXH 9' rod with a Diawa Saltist 30 that I use for big rubber and its a nice set up. A new Saltist 30 runs for about $180 and you can get a used one for around $100. The Saltist 20 would be a good option also. Same line pickup as the 30 just less line capacity. The 20 is also a little smaller and easier to palm.

Acutally, a Calcutta 400b will work for about $229. I have actually been throwing some large baits using my Shimano Cardiff and its held up pretty good. But i do take care of my stuff unlike others. the Cardiff goes for about $109.

Cardiff would be good low budget, calcutta b or revo toro would be the next step up IMO.

I have a 9'0 TI XXH mated with Okuma Cedros... and I absolutely LOVE this set up for Big Rubbers and Bucktails (including DBL8/10)... I dont really burn the bucktails anymore but it works awesome for me... I have a 9'0 XH TB Predator with 400TE and its pretty much a back-up combo... So do some serious looking around and you can find a brand new Cedros for the price FishFirst suggested (I did that way last year)... If you dont want the powerhandle Cedros has, Isis would be a great alternative as its basically the SAME as Cedros, except for the twin paddle handle...

I think a 7000ihsn would match up with that TI rod pretty well. Kdawg

Has anyone tried the Revo Toro 500 or 600? Since I have artheritis in my hands a guide suggested the Revo Toro 500 because it's not as wide as other reels and makes it easier for some of us old Gezzer's to operate. The price might hold some folks from buying it.
