Anyone ever have the board struck by a muskie? I can see this happening as the boards are no bigger than some lures. I have a downrigger ball that was struck and my trolling motor has been hit several times.

They'll eat em once in a while. I had one wake up on a board last fall. I didn't see it, but my partner got pretty excited!

Guys trolling for walleye on LSC have their in-line boards hit on a regular basis.

I guess gotta mount a couple #7 on the board and only use lures with with two hooks (Ont 4 hooks ) Now watch me put a hook in my hand while retrieving the board.

I've had it happen a few time on GB. One time, a pretty big fish really thrashed on it for about 15 seconds.

I've had it happen on the standard size walleye boards. Last year I upgraded to the new larger board from Church and had one give solid swipe on the first outing. I would not put hooks on them though as they would just collect weeds and sink.

I've never had one actually hit a board but know folks who have. The stupid fish will hit a chicken or a stupid stick you pick up off the ground, so what do you expect?

I'm 90% sure I saw a happy hump behind a board once… it was kinda dark and rough so maybe 70% sure. If you do get a follow or strike on a board, I recommend you immediately put out top water baits because some of the most exciting/fun fishing you will ever do is to catch a muskie on a trolled top water.

Okay, make that 50% sure I saw one, but I would guess that it's actually closer to 100% chance of a follow considering how stupid these fish are.

There are people that use cut hooks to catch weeds with the board so their lures don't foul. I believe there was one guy who registered a few fish with Muskies Inc that somehow got caught on those hooks!
