Braid. It's thinner (lb for lb) so you can put more on the reel, it lasts longer than mono, more sensitive & casts further.

I jig the Detroit & St. Clair Rivers so the thinner line has less drag in the current, which helps in keeping vertical and the sensitivity helps when muskies hit my Bondy Bait at the top of my jig stroke.

You can put much stronger line on a reel that is limited by line capacity. When using mono not as much of a heavier test line will fit on the spool as compared to braid. Easier to tie 80 lb braid as compared to mono.

Mono works fine but most people would do better with braid for muskies.
