| Does anyone troll bulldogs? Like mag dogs or pounders?.. what kind of set ups do you use?... Any sucess? Thanks guys |

Location: Bemidji, Lake Vermilion | Yes I do and yes they are successful. Mags don't work as well if not somehow weighted, but work ok in shallow situations where you're on the outside edge of weeds and not really worried about depth. Pounders or 2lbers work much better IMO and do get down better for deeper situations or open water trolling.
Its also ok to run them with a bow mount TM at a slower than normal trolling speed, say 1.5mph and use a combination of jigging/ripping them some but other times putting them in a holder and just let them do what they do. |

Location: Land of the Musky | Love trolling dawgs, Suzy Suckers, SuperDs etc. Only thing I recommend is, use the heavy not the shallow versions of these lures. Example, if you troll the MegaD pounders 11.5oz they will tend to role on you as they do not have a lot of weight in them to ballast the lure. Use the heavy versions..

That's topwater trolling speed :). I would be more interested in trolling at 3.5+, has anyone been doing this with good results?

| Have caught at least 50 over 50inches only one of those fish came over 3.5 mph....slow down buddy....no need... |

Location: Bemidji, Lake Vermilion | Didn't mean to imply that I was running them slowly all the time. I run them in that 3-4mph range lots. But you've got to have pounders (or similar), mags won't work at those speeds. 2lbers are even better. I've also had some success with the largest Suzy Suckers. Mammoth Curly Sue's work great at the higher speeds, but you'll find even as big/heavy as those are, they plane very high in the column and are better suited for running over weed tops/weed edges.
I actually got put onto this at one of the MAC events that happened on Cass in Oct a few years back, brutal cold, guys caught the only 3 fish of day 1 trolling rubber if I recall. Put it to action on Saturday the next weekend and it paid off immediately.
I do like trolling Hawg Wobblers with the trolling motor!  |

| I only troll dogs off of home made boards...1.5 to 2 mph... preset depth.....get more erratic action which keeps the fish from swallowing them like they do in a straight line presentation...hate killing fish...but a numbers thing... |

Location: 31 | I was trolling them on a down rod about 20 feet behind the boat at roughly 3- 4 miles an hour with zero results. Sometimes just hearing that other people are successful helps to restore your confidence in something you feel should work... and that method should definitely work! Thanks!!! |
