hello all, i enjoyed reading the recent post about pet muskies in aquariums. i know little about keeping aquarium fish alive etc. but after reading that thread i sure would like to see some pictures of your pet muskies. sounded really interesting, also walleyes, pickerel, crappie, etc. thanks!

Where did you get the musky I have A 480 gallon tank with A arrowana and A catfish I was thinking about getting rid of the catfish and I would love to have A musky to replace it

The permits and hoops you will have to jump through are not worth it. I had muskies for years but with the new Wisconsin rules and VHS its not worth the trouble. Getting the small muskies is easy, doing it legal is hard and not worth the tickets if you get caught doing it without the proper permits. It used to be as easy as going to the pet store like Hoffers and purchasing them. With a receipt you were legal to have them. Now with VHS and all the rules I have no more muskies in my tanks. I miss them, they were very cool to watch.

Yup he got all 3 minnows in one strike and swallowed them all!!! I released them all in a local river. I raised 5 tigers from 3-4" to 15-18". As you can see they were eating VERY well.

Very cool pics Art. I miss having muskies in my tank. It is 7ft long and 31-inches high. They loved it in there until they got into the low twentys where it was hard to turn around because the tank was only 24-inches deep. Muskies grow quickly. A huge tank is a must.

When I was a kid I had 5 Muskies at once in a 75 gallon aquarium. They all grew to 15 inches by fall. Would never do it now but released them all in Shady Oak Lake In Hopkins. I often wonder if anyone ever caught one??

I was told by my local fish store owner that releasing even naturally occuring fish from captivity to the wild is illegal in most places, due to the fact there are alot of aquarium borne ailments and parasites that aren't in the wild. I thought about catching and keeping a couple wild crawfish and small bluegill and then re-releasing them and he told me once they go into captivity, especially with non-native fish they are then considered aquarium-only.
Any truth to that? I've basically been convinced that it's just not worth it.

Like Snakehead, not a problem here in the midwest, but a problem growing on I believe the east coast (I could be wrong and please correct me if I am). I remember watching on NatGeo and I believe River Monsters also did a episode about them and how they will decimate native populations of fish because they are so aggressive.
Also not a fish species but people releasing pythons into the Everglades and southern Florida, which has become a huge problem and issue down there for native populations of animals.
