| Ok, I have a question for all you Dawg Users. I've fished them many times in the early summer into fall, but haven't fished them much in the spring. If you want to target shallow weed flats or areas in early spring, do you still go with dawgs ( shallow dogs) and how would you fish them? I would think they would sink too fast to fish in shallow flats ( 3 - 5 ft) . Just curious about other options for spring. Any help? |

Location: SE, WI. | The hellkat is an excellent bait in the shallow water. Opt for the Cork model. It sinks at a rate of about 1 ft per 3 seconds. Check out Hellkat post below this one. No problems in the shallow rocks!!! |

Location: S.W. WI | I love to fish Shallow Dawgs over cabbage that's within a few feet of the surface. I use Magnum sh. Dawgs mostly. Just start reelin em' and pull/pop em right away, may help to keep your rod up a little too. With practice and the right touch....they glide very nice. The Reg. sized Shallow Dawgs stay pretty high without much effort. Nice erattic glides when popped along.

Location: Forest Lake, MN & Bemidji, MN | Just straight retrieve them. Synchronize your retrieve like you would a bucktail and you will have no issue fishing them at this depth. You can do it with a regular pounder, don't need a shallow model or smaller one unless that's what you want. The actual weight difference is minimal. I have had great luck on straight retrieved plastics of all types and I don't think I'm alone. Good luck! |

| Three pastors in the south were having lunch in a diner. One said, You know, since summer started I’ve been having trouble with bats in my loft and attic at church. I’ve tried everything----noise, spray, cats----nothing seems to scare them away.
Another said, Yes, me too. I’ve got hundreds living in my belfry and in the attic. I’ve been had the place fumigated, and they still won’t go away.
The third said, I baptized all mine, and made them members of the church...haven’t seen one back since!

Location: Land of the Musky | Shallow and/or small swimbaits and work them slow. We kill-em in Canada in late May with shallow Reg SuperDs in spring. LOL most of the guys in the camp don't believe we have so many pictures of big fish using artificials vs dead bait that early and we outfish many.
That Hellkat looks like it may have a spot in my tacklebox this year! Looks like a nice flat bait to run real shallow.
It works!
