| Hi all, I've been lurking this site for a while now and there seems to be MANY knowledgable folks here so I'd like some advice.
I am planning on buying a Revo Toro Winch for twin tens. The 4:6 ratio would be great for these but I plan on using this reel as my "main" reel as well. Will the 4:6 be too slow for other lure presentations? And on the other hand will the Revo Toro 6:4 model be too fast for the tens but better for other lures. Not sure which route to take for a multi-purpose reel and would appreciate any advice before making an uneducated $300 purchase/possible mistake.
Thanks in advance,

| Hello bmusky and everyone else, i too am a long time lurker who just joined, figure ill use my first post to help you out since i was in the same situation as you around christmas time. I got the winch as my main reel and muskie season has started here in central, il, so i have used it a bunch of times. It works great for pretty much everything except jerks and gliders. I have thrown everything from 3/4 oz rattle traps up to reg bulldawgs and cowgirls and it casts and retrieves awesomely. You will have to crank a little faster, though, to move your baits faster, but it isn't really that much different from a 5.x:1 reel. Plus you can get one brand new on ebay for around $200, so you dont have to spend close to $300. | |
