| I've been lurking on this site for a while and it seems that there are MANY knowledgable people on here so I would like some advice....I was planning on buying a Revo Toro Winch for twin tens. The 4:6 ratio would be fine for that, but I also would like to use this reel for most other lures too. Will that be too slow for other presentations? On the other hand, will a Revo Toro with the 6:4 be too fast for the tens? Any input you guys might have would be appreciated as I don't want to make an uneducated $300 investment.
Thanks in advance,

Location: APPLETON, WI | The Winch is a great reel and it does one thing VERY well.... big bucktails. It'll crank in Double 10's and even Double 13's with no issues at all. Kinda feels like a Mepps #5.
I wouldn't utilize the Winch (4.6:1) for really anything else but that as it simply doesn't have the line pick-up that you would use for most other baits.
I don't think you'd also want to use the Revo HS (6.4:1) for big bucktails. It's a high-speed reel with a fast gear ratio that most like myself use for reeling up slack line very easily. I use my Revo HS for jerkbaits, walk-the dog and burning spinnerbaits and small bucktails.
I'm not exactly a reel expert, but that's what I use mine for... I'm sure a bunch of other guys will chime in for ya! |

Location: Antigo Wi. | I use my winch for only 10's or larger blades and my HS for jerkbaits, topwaters and small bucktails and my 5.4/1 for dawgs and such.I have a fishing buddy who uses his winch for everything he throws, just does not get any speed or possibly the right action out of certain lures. If you can find one,the 5,4/1 would be a good all-around reel for you.I love my toros and so far they have been very dependable, well worth the investment. |

| I have 6500c3's for my 5:3, and a c4 at 6:3 i think, for HS presentations and line pick up on jerks or wtd's. I just thought spending that kind of money on a Revo, i'll want to use it often and I don't throw 10s too much.......maybe I will if I have the right reel however? Another reel with the same gearing as the 6500's seems unneccesary so I figured having the 4:6 rounds out my arsenal.
Thanks for input from all,

| i have a toro 51 with the 5.4:1 ratio and i don't throw db 10's much but it does good with them. i throw db 8's 99% of the time when throwing bucktails and the 5.4:1 is really nice with them but my favorite reel for those, and the majority of other baits that i throw, is hands down the quicker curado 301... |

Location: Lake "y" cause lake"x" got over fished | I own the Revo Toro winch 61, 4.6:1 gear ratio. I throw DC10s and DC13s all the time I would say 80 percent of the time. It is hands down the best reel I own!!!! I am going to buy a second at the MN Musky Expo this year as well. Also works well with all around baits too!

| I found a Revo Winch on cabelas for $200, seems to have less line capacity and 2 less bearings but the gear ratio is 5.4:1
The revo TORO winch is $269 and has higher line capacity and 10 bearings and 4.6:1 , it also lists the HS reel at 6.1:1
What is the main difference?? are they the same size and quality?? Id like to pick up the revo winch because it seems like a nice medium but not having one in my hands to compare against a revo toro winch 60 i am hesitant to purchase. Im new to musky fishing as well and would like to start with a general "all purpse" reel that is capable of throwing a misture yet not breaking the $200 mark just yet.

| This confuses me too, is there a huge difference between a Revo Winch and a Revo Toro Winch?? Abu's website shows the two but it seems the cheaper revo winch has 10 bearings and the toro only has 8. I just dont understand what the difference is besides line capacity and gearing. Id like to pick one up but as others have stated fear that it may be a bass reel and not a musky reel. Abu says they had a revo toro winch in 5.4:1 and that only the revo winch shown on their webiste currently now has the gearing.
Does anyone who knows the big differences have some insight?? please lol |

The major difference is the line capacity, the line intake should be the same, because of the different spool diameters. In general, less bearings are always better (durability wise).

| The difference is the revo winch is a bass reel. All around smaller and won't stand up to the abuse of musky lures like double 10s. |

Location: northeast ohio | I got my first revolution toro about a year and a half ago, and since then between my dad and I we got 3 more. Along with big blades, I also use my winch for any other kind of straight steady retrieve bait, and it works great. The hs is a good reel for literally anything you'd wanna throw. Used a lot of different reels, and can honestly say...I'll never use anything but a revo toro again!! You can find them on clearance anywhere between $160-$200 fairly easily. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND GETTING ONE!!!!!! |

| Picked up a Revo 60 with the 5.4-1 gear ration today at Reed's at the Milw. Sport Show for $240 I was going to buy the HS model on line for much cheaper and then have my reel repair guy change out the gears but found out it was cheaper to buy it in the ratio I wanted. All reels at Reeds are 20% off at the show. |

| I would recommend the Revo Toro Winch 60. The wider spool , low profile body, and light weight balances out nicely on the bigger rods. I didn't care much for the lower gear ratio as it really required some effort to bulge some of the larger blades. I ended up adding a gear kit that increased the speed to 5.4:1.
The kit is available through Abu Garcia and will cost you about $50.00
I also added on the cranking handle which clearly gives you more comfort when tossing these larger blades.
I realize that the cost of the reel, plus kit and handle will take you a bit north of the $300.00 mark, but believe me it is well worth the money considering the comfort and reliability that you will find in this product. |

Location: Valpo IN | To understand it better you need a Revo toro for muskies, if it doesn't say toro it`s mainly made for bass. |
