Location: Madison, WI | Hi guys,
I have a question for you... I found a few of these in a local bait store this weekend, and since I believe it is a discontinued item, I did the only reasonable thing under the circumstances... I bought every one they had in stock!!!! (My dad would be proud. Back in the day, he hit up every tackle store within a 50 mile radius, buying several hundred spinno king spoons as soon as he learned they were no longer being made).
Anyway, I would like to know for sure whether this is in fact a discontinued item, or whether I can still get a hold of these baits.
It's the Storm Deep Thunder 15 (15 being the size in centimeters, so bait body length is approx 6 inches... total length including lip is about 8.75 inches).
I have attached 2 photos. The first is in the box compared to a Windel's musky snack. The second is compared to a normal thunderstick (and dollar bill for size reference)
Any info on whether the Storm Deep Thunder 15 is still being made would be greatly appreciated. Please NOTE: I am aware that Cabelas sells the Storm ThunderCrank in sizes 06 and 08, (2.5 and 3.25 inches), but I haven't found any other place to get a Deep Thunder 15.
Any info on whether the Deep Thunder 15 is still being made would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

| I have 2 just hanging in the basement. A perch like the pic and a cisco/shad color. How much did you pay? If you want you can have my 2 for the same price. i do believe they are discontinued. | |

I paid about $7 a piece for them. I asked the guy at the store if they were discontinued, and he said "I don't think so. I think I can reorder them." But I think he was mistaken about this. I think the baits were displayed in an area where it's possible nobody touched them in about 3 years. The copyright year on the box is 2001. (The Kick'n Minnows, by comparison, were copyright 2008 on the box). I believe they are discontinued, and before you would sell them to me, you might want to check to see if they have any value. (I think I was on a saltwater forum, where somebody was complaining that they could no longer get these, so I assume they are discontinued... and potentially valuable).
I plan to have mine painted by Tyler Wolf (wolftackle84 from this board), and use them for BIG open water walleyes on a cisco based lake. Before modifying them in this way, however, I want to make sure that they aren't some valuable collector's item, that would be ruined by modifying.
I'll let you know if I find out anything, but I'm guessing these might be in demand in some salt water fishing communities. (Note: The baits have salt water hooks attached from the factory, so I'm assuming they may never have been intended for a fresh water application, as they appear to be a "tweener" size, between musky and walleye baits)
