I'm looking at upgrading my trolling motor to a minnkota powerdrive v2 24v 70lbs thrust and I'm not sure what all I need. I know 2 new batteries. I know getting thicker gauge wire but I don't know if i should use 6 or 8. Circuit breaker, fuses, connectors.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bigger is better and you will need a circuit breaker. Whatever motor you buy will recommend what size breaker

Make sure you get stranded wire, not solid. You might need a crimping tool for the battery side wire end connector you chose. I always soldered the ends too after crimping when I did the wiring myself as it eliminates places where water can get into the wire and start corroding. Heavier wire is better if you have a longer run, like front to back of the boat, but if you are just a few feet away from the socket it doesn't make that noticeable a difference.

6 gauge wire and 60 amp fuse will work just fine.

Look on their website. I know when I bought my 2 bank charger, I was able to have all my wiring ready when it came. You can download the instuctions from the website and they will recommend the wire gauge, and all that jazz.

I have a two bank charger, thanks for the info guys. And don't I need a 24v plug up front by the tm?

The plug up front should be the same. Look at the wiring though. Mine was only 10 gauge wire so I went without a plug and I think it looks a lot cleaner.
