Was just looking through my Cabela's catalog and was trying to decide which socks would be best to order. I couldn't make up my mind and it struck me that I knew the best place to ask...here.

What type/brand/fabric socks do you guys use for the cold weather?

Seal-skinz water-proof socks, wear a pair of wool socks underneath with waterproof boots and you should be ok for anything.

I started wearing the SmartWool socks last hunting season and I'm sold on them. Absolutley toasty warm, and poly spun into the wool, so liners aren't necessary. They are a little pricey, but for a few extra bucks per pair, I think I'd rather be comfortable on the hunt.

Wool, Wool and Wool. Make sure the wool content is 80% or better.

My best cure for cold weather is Wild Turkey in the coffee, but I also love my thermax sox. Not sure what kind of space age material they are, but they work.

David said it whool is the way to go, I am fortunate enough to own a pair or two of homemade socks that I got from my father in law. They were probably made in the 50s by his mother or grandmother. These things are so warm I sometime wear them just with my running shoes unless I know it is going to rain or snow. They may not be the prettiest things to look at but they work. I actualy wear those inside insulated rubber boots for the coldest of fall days. [:sun:]
