This question goes out to Vince or any other guys down that way. Is there any open water ? W e are looking to start early again this year . I have a bunch of new baits to test both trolling and casting. Looking to fish Webster, Upper Long, and or Skinner. Mike

Ramp is still frozen at Kuhn (barbee chain). Webster ramp is open but not sure how far you can get onto the main lake. Tippy is open and most of James. Not sure about upper long and skinner.

Talked to a guy at Petey's... he said that their launch was too thick as of today, but mentioned an open ramp at the tippy dance hall. I'm trying to get out this Sunday... let me know if anyone is able to do so.

Put in 8 - 10 Hours on the lake then 8 - 10 beers at Pie eyed Petey's. I like to fish the dropoffs with soft plastics and weedlines. Even caught some nice pike there by accident. Couple shallow areas in the middle areas of the lake you can fish around too. Best of luck to you. All else fails troll some of the areas. The lake is much larger then the other lakes in the area and much deeper. Best fished early in the day and late in the day. The boat traffic will kill you in the middle of the day.

nightrunner06 in all seriousness the best way to fish this lake is to get a guide for the first time like Bill Bennett and or join the webster lake musky club. The club is a good time and offers things like guide for a day programs that give you the oppertunity to fish with people that fish the Webster Lake area lakes quite a bit. The club also offers other outing that you may be interested in. Tippie as big and deep and taking a guide will up your chances exponentially of catch one of its monster fish.

they should all be completely open by now, ramp at barbee was frozen earlier in the week but it should be all good to go. Tippy is mostly open and webster is 100% open.

If someone gets a change can they let us know if the launch is ice free on Kuhn? I really would like to get out on barbee again.

Does anyone know anything about Bruce Lake here in Indiana? Is the public launch and canal to the lake ice free?

Thanks Bill. I really wanted to go this weekend but found out I can't. Hopefully I will be out next weekend and knock the dust off the gear.

Went to Barbee saturday 3/11/2012. Everything is open. The wind was killer and the cold weather. By the time I made it home it was about 12 degrees warmer here in Northwest Indiana. No luck but will be back over there soon. Water temp around 40 in main part of lake and 43 in shallow areas. Best of luck to you!

I was out on tippy yesterday... basin temps were 39 and by the creek mouths in james and tippy, the water temps were 47.5. Didn't see or catch anything. Threw smaller twitch baits and minnow baits: phantoms, gliders, shallow raiders etc...
