Deer Season and Musky Fishing

Last year it was 65 degrees at noon on the MI firearm deer opener, November 15. The year before we had 10" of snow on the ground. Who knows what the weather will bring, but I know for sure there are 3 good muskie lakes within 20 miles of deer camp. So this year I'm taking the boat to deer camp!! Anybody else thinking along these lines?

I love deer season....keeps a good number of you muskie hunters away from my fish, and up in the trees!

For the last 4 years I've been combining the two. Soaking suckers, with a gun by my side. Feel kind of silly drifting around the lake while constantly watching the shoreline, but it's suprising how many deer you can see. Two years ago I doubled on the second day of the season, a 6 pointer in the A.M. and a 42" a few hours later.

I am fortunate enough to have a stand where my hunting is usually done by first light opening day, so after that I hit the lakes, best time of the year to be out there, and the last post is right you wouldnt belive how many deer you see while fishing also, the lakes I hit anyway so thats another option.

This may be the first year in long time that I don’t hunt. My usual hunting spot is smack dab in the middle of the CWD eradication zone. I think it may also be an “earn a buck” area. – It really sucks. Instead of closing down the trailer this weekend I should winterize it and start hunting around Haywire. I never even scouted up there; maybe I’ll just go fishing and bring my gun in the boat and shoot any I see on shore. Is that legal?

HAYWIRE???? Now THAT is funny.[]

Lots of good hunting areas up there, check on public land. Tag sales are so far down as of right now in Wisconsin there will be WAY fewer hunters in the woods.

nxt.-It's perfectly legal. If using any type of motor, the weapon must be unloaded and cased, but set up a good wind drift and have it out and loaded. A good set of binocs and a little white on the ground really helps. Good luck.
