Hey guys just looking for some advice for a new rod reel combo. I am getting a St.Croix Mojo Musky 8" MH looking to get a good buck tail rod set up so please let me know which reel you think is best Cheers!

Unless you plan on throwing mainly double 10s or larger, i would stay away from the Winch. The ratio is far too slow for smaller blades.

My vote is for the Shimano CTE 401. Just plain bulletproof!

Get the 401 and put a power handle on it...you will love it.

Get the TE and get a heavier rod than MH...if you plan on throwing big blades at all get a H or XH.

Definitely seems like a lot of reel for not a lot of rod. The winch is a little more user friendly with the low profile and lighter weight. Otherwise, they're both great reels. TE is probably a little more versitile with the higher speed, but it's not enough to make a huge difference. Maybe look on Ebay for a 5.3:1 revo toro. That reel will go well with the MH rod and the heavier rod you'll eventually buy to replace it.
