What boat cover (brand, model, et cetera) do you guys use for Navigator 165s? It's the newer body style (91" beam, 16'8" long).

Hiya,

I went with a custom one made by Canvas Craft in Ramsey MN. Purchased it in 2005 when I purchased my navigator 165. It has been a great cover!! Vents on both sides, center poles to keep water moving off rather than pooling, quick on and quick off.

Well worth the extra $$ to go that route...

At the time (this was in March of 2005) it was a tad over $400. It was well worth that price and then some!! Absolutely no leakage, no billowing during trailering, easy on, easy off, and doesn't mar the paint where the cover meets the hull.

I have stored my boat outside for the past 3 winters now, and the cover shows no break-down whatsoever.

The side bungees do not have metal in them, so you don't have to worry about scratching the boat or trailer...they just go down around the trailer and hook to themselves.

The only thing I added was two little rope ratches I got at the local ace hardware to cinch up the rope that goes around the entire edge of the cover so I didn't have to try and tie the cover tight...

If you are in the twin cities area, I would highly recommend them to do the work.

Their prices have went up. I got a cover quoted @ Canvas Craft for my Alumacraft Classic 165 CS. $600-700.

I bought a cover for my 175 from my dealer when I purchased the boat in '04. The cover came from Alumacraft and cost around $250.

I still own the boat and the cover has been awesome, still works as good as new.

I'd check with alumacraft.

Has anyone looked at Cabelas before? I know they sell Alumacrafts and have their boats at their stores. I have never seen a Alumacraft specific cover in their catalogs, but maybe there is a style they sell made for the boats they sell. Anyone know?

I use a Cabela's semi-custom for my Navigator 165, for the price I'm very happy. True, it's not a custom cover, but it fits well and trailers well as long as you make sure it's tied down good. However, I only use it when I'm on vacation when I can't store my boat inside - so about 12 days a year - so take that for what it's worth.

I would recommend getting different tie-downs than what come with it & get a foot longer than your boat if you have a bow-mount.
