| I'm currently running a Lowrance HDS unit... And I am planning on running the Hummingbird 898 SI next to the HDS, will the transducers interfere with each other?.. My other opiton is just to upgrade to the HDS 10 and get the structure scan... Does anyone know if the the transducers will interfere with each other??? I really like the Hummingbird units... thanks guys |

Location: Stevens Point, WI | You can do that no problem. Just go into menu, stop chart on the Lowrance sonar and you won't have any issues. The only time you'd see any issues is if your running two transucers at the same time. You might see some vertical lines on the screen, but it won't affect anything. Nothing else will be interfered. I'd still want to match units personally, whether it be Humminbird or Lowrance. The networking is nice imo. |

Location: Hayward, WI | I think you should be ok, the SI would be running 455/800hz and the HDS would be running 83/200hz. That would be if just running the SI, if running in 2d then it runs the same freq. I have not verified this, just a theory. |

| I run both a Lowrance and a Bird with SS and Down Scan off the back of the boat with no interference. I don't think you need to worry. There is no need to shut one unit off; they work fine when both are running.

Location: Stevens Point, WI | I've seen it first hand in situations where two transducers either from a Bird/Lowrance combo, two Lowrances or Humminbirds where you'll get vertical lines on your sonar. It will happen. This is the only interference I've seen, two ducers running will cause some interference.

Location: Central Wi | Im with Devoe on this one... I have fished with a couple guys now and you notice lines going across the screen on the Lowrance units. You will pick up other boats from a distance away even. Would have never believed it if I didnt see it. Its not like it makes the sonar unusable but you do notice it on the screen.
I personally run a HBird on my boat and dont notice it as much I dont think but still there sometimes. I think you notice it more on the Lowrance units because the sonar is better in my opinion.
I thought I heard of a guide talking about a Noise filter or something for the Lowrance units. Kind of the same concept that you see built in on Humminbird Ice fishing units I think. That you can switch reduce the amount of interference. Has any one ever heard of this? |

Location: Not far enough north! | I run a Bird off the trolling motor and a HDS8 in the back for navigation. The only time I see interference in on the bird when the trolling motor is running at a certain speed. The bird is running off the built in the ducer on the motorguide. If I remember correctly there is an option on the lowrance units now where you can "turn off noise" I would think that or playing with the sensitivity would alleviate any interference visible on the screen... |
