Wow! What did you think?
Do any of you guys crank your Tails this fast for 10-15hrs a day????

What a Joke!
Soooooo,.... who won???? and was I the only one bored with this ....Stuff??
The most exiting thing was the guy behind Ty S. copping a feel from his wife/girlfriend.

Are we (as muskie fishermen) this nerdy ?

it was fiun,,they all had pretty red faces when they were done from the energy expended, casting acurate really played a big part in the contest if your cast landed to the left or right it meant a couple seconds longer retrive time compared to a straight line cast

It was silly but the Tranx reel made it look easier to reel in those big blades.

I was fortunate enough to try both ratios well before contest time and both have there time and place. Will I purchase one ...? Not sure yet. I did keep score for one of the teams in the contest, but "someone" volunteered me somehow.

Honestly ..the lower ratio for big blades and higher for smaller blades in that category of baits. Larry's opinion I believe was the same.

Thanks for the opinion. I throw Showgirls majority of the time, with a few Cowgirls thrown in here and there. Did you feel like the high-gear ratio was almost too fast? In other words, did the blades want to break the surface easily? As far as pulling 10s, what reel would you compare the resistance of the high-gear ratio to?

I have no idea who won, but like ice fishing videos, I fast forwarded to the end.

Thorne bros team won!!!! based on the allaround skill of Luke Ronnestrand both speed and casting in the designated target area

has far has total straight line speed,,,Mike Hulbert took that but he used the nascar strategy he drove it like he didnt have a dime in it and didnt cast has accurate

I heard from someone who was there that Bill Buechner, who finished second apparently, had 13 more casts retrieved than the next closest competitor, so obviously it wasn't only about speed as he must have been deducted for casting accuracy. Using a 400TE I believe.

To compare to other Shinamo reels you may have used. The fast one feels very similar and is about as fast (at the handle) as the 16n or 16NA spooled a bit less than full...normal setup. The slow reel is identical to a 700TE as far as speed, and how it feels when reeling it (at the handle). I'll probably keep a couple TN14's on hand as they fill a nice nitch between the two and are a small light fast reel that is easy for almost anyone to handle.

I thought the contest was cool, but didn't really settle anything. Way too many factors were different from each angler to the next to have a scientific answer for which reel is the fastest.
