I have never fished post-turnover due to the fact I only get out muskie fishing a few times a year. My wife is letting me go to Wisconsin this weekend for our anniversery (she is going too) and I heard all the lakes have pretty much turned. How do you guyes fish these situations?

Look for the remaining green weeds and fish them HARD. Low light conditions or good wind, fish the stones on the breaks mid day to out over the deep, and the edge and top during activity periods and morning/evening. Hit the sharp sand breaks on cloudy days, too.

Gliders, Jerk baits, Twitch baits, hair and jigs. Most guys slow way down this time of year, I don't. the fish can and will hit 35 MPH on a short burst in 40 degree water, so I go for the trigger unless I feel the fish are 'off', in which case I ALWAYS slow down the retrieve.

Hi Cable,

Steve has given you some GREAT advice! I would just like to add a litte bit to it. If the lake you will be fishing has any shallow weedy bays (say 3'-6' depth) and you are lucky enough to get a somewhat sunny day, fish that area HARD,SLOW,THROUGHLY in the mid to late afternoon. Odds are, the musky will go up in there for a couple of reasons. First, a little warmer water, and secondly the forage base will be apt to moving inside the green weeds. TAKE YOUR TIME, I can't emphasis this enough. Through a few different baits around in there:Gliders, Jerks, Hair, and believe it or not, a slow moving top water (creeper, hawg wobler.) I have caught fish in Oct, 50° water, on a hawg wobler. The best of luck to you!
