Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | If you were to be dropped off (of course w/ full rigged boat, your rods/reels with you, and pants on) to anywhere in the muskie range...and you dont get to choose the lake, the time of year, only that boom you fish this lake from 6AM to Midnight....what 10 baits do you take?
Yes, this question has come up in years past, but I like this one, and it's winter, and we talk about alot dumber stuff all the time around here...
Personally, I'm using the same 10 I've always named as my top ten:
1. Double 10, black tail, smoke/nickel blades
2. Straight Depth Raider, Perch
3. Magnum Bulldawg, Black/Orange (or walleye)
4. Suick, 9" weighted black/white sucker pattern
5. Weagle, Black
6. TopRaider, Blackbird
7. Rad Dog Spinnerbait (black w/ an added extra large willow blade in glow and a white twister tail)
8. 10" Jake, Tennessee Shad
9. 8" Hughes River glider in Shad (if it's spring, 6" hughey in okaboji perch)
10. Bomber Long A Mag in Shad color.

| Well.. Slammer's already got 8 of my 10, with the exception of #8 and #10. For #8 I'd say a 9" Grandma in perch. For #10? #8 Shumway Flasher, black w/orange blades. Or Nickel blades. As I said in the other thread, I could fish the whole season with nothing more than those.

Location: Warroad, Mn | Just thought I'd reflect on this some. In my 45 years or so of muskie fishing I'll bet that my top ten lures has changed at least 20 times. Here's my current ten: DCG's or similar, all colors seem to work at times Large spinner-baits (no one seems to make them any more, but the big M&G's are deadly) 10 Jakes, both casted and trolled. Grandma work also 10" unweighted suicks 8" Big Game (twitched) Tail spinner top waters (lots of good ones, topraider is my favorite) Smaller spinner baits (Rad Dogs, Grinders, and the like) Small bucktails (real speed lures), Vibrex, Harassers, Mepps, Buchers and many others) 10" believers both solid and jointed (very versatile, can be cast or trolled, good in weeds) Soft plastics. Bulldogs (I like magums, but Im old). There's lots of great stuff out there. I can both cast and troll with these, I sort of feel I should have a jigging option like a Bondy Lure or a Fuzzy Duzzit, guess I better get at least one of each! Wonder what this will look like 10 year from now? Doug Johnson |

Maybe Todd Forcier put it best: "I've never seen anyone fish a lure like that before." I don't know if it was a comment on the lure itself or my fishing technique or both! I suspect the latter, and I think he was also being kind in his choice of words.
Have fun!
