| Anybody ever use the short shank wide gap hooks from Tyrant Tackle? I'm looking for hooks of this description in the 4/0 - 5/0 range. I've tried the plasma hooks from Musky Innovations and didn't care for them too much. I'd appreciate any information on the Tyrant hooks or any other hooks that fit this description. Much thanks. |

Location: VA | The ones I had often broke when trying to "T" the hooks for gliders. Ended up throwing them away. VMC or Mustad's are the way to go. |

| I've had about 10 percent Tyrant tackle break while T'ing hook. If the hook eye is placed perpendicular to the length of the lure or two split rings are used you can bend the two hooks that aren't sodered (sp?) on. This also lets the T sit squarely with the lure.
Metal seems softer points may dull but I am not fully certain of this. I use the 7/0 on a jerkbait I made out of pine and haven't moved the lure well enough to set the hook (had teeth marks but no scratches from the lure moving). Three fish have hit this lure but none have been landed. I see the pine as the problem and not the hooks. |
