Is anyone using the D-17 down east rod holders ? If so , do you know the difference between the D-17 and D-14 ? Other than the clamp being in a different spot I can't see much of a difference .

Big difference. The s17 is only secured on one side of the rod holder where as on the s14 rod holder is secured on both sides. Not sure if that makes sense but I've seen several "standard" mounts snap and a couple rods were lost. If using for musky, you have to go with salty series. Only $8 more and could save a $100+ rod.
