I would like to try going up to Canada musky fishing and am looking for a place to stay on the east side of the lake. I have heard thats where the muskys are; any nice places to stay close by?

Very few lodges on the east side of Lac Suel. There's a couple but it's a 25 mile boat ride.

Do a google search on Anderson Outposts, or Lac Suel Outposts, and you'll get the closest resorts as far as I know. Also try Moose Horn lodge/Ontario (there's lots of Moose Horn Lodges). If you have a big group many people go with house boats out of Lac Suel Floating lodges.

Good luck, there's some dandies in Lac Suel.

Definitely check out Moosehorn (www.canadafish.com). I have never been to any lodge where the level of muskie knowledge is so great (and I've been a lot of places in Canada--even Doug J only knows a little of where I've been!). Their guides are second to none for a camp like this! Amazing when even the camp owner's muskie knowledge exceeds that of a lot of tackle shop employees--they even know the difference between a Krisco and a Krave! Linda, Greg, Colin and Ben are truly top notch!!!

One thing to be ready for is that you are going to burn a lot of gas/spend some serious cash. No matter where you come out of, to get to 'muskie water' you are going to be doing some driving! Whether you stay at an outpost camp or launch from the access every day (there are no resorts you drive to , walk down to the dock, jump in your boat and fish within sight of the dock and catch a giant.), you are going to be burning some considerable amounts of fuel!

There are some true giants up there, but please baby them! I've hit is hard up there for a couple of years and already know of a half dozen fish that have been caught multiple times--and these aren't small fish!!!! Enjoy it all, but don't wreck it for the next guy!

Any theories or ideas as to why the Muskies aren't on the West side of the lake? We spend a lot of time on the water near Ear Falls.....

just a theory but since Lac Seul was flooded out and really originally was a series of lakes and rivers I would maybe guess lakes that had Muskies in them before flooding were on the eastern part of what is now the whole lake and they stayed closer to the their original habitat..
