After a looong dry spell, like 120 hours on great waters since mid-July, my slump was ended with a 4 fish day. Makes 18 so far this season for me. Keep the faith, boys, and keep yer hooks wet.

Way to go Ranger!

I always say!

1)"If you pitch it....they will come"

or

2)"You cant catch a muskie....while sitting on a lazy boy"

And Sunday I sat on a Lazy Boy all day....not even a nibble or a follow....but I did see some nice ones caught on TV, and Sponge bob got attacked by jellyfish...that was cool.[]

Ranger - Great news! Sorry I wasn't there to net them for you. I bet all the Muskies in the UP are trembling in their cabbage beds now that you've broken the spell. [] Details???[8)]

Thanks, dudes.

Details - Fished my Little Lake X, where muskies totally disapeared mid-summer when water temps rose above 65 or so. Temps are now about 58 and yippee the fish are back. Air temps were low 40s with high winds and so much rain I had to bail the boat twice. I was on the clear water as it began to get light. For the first hour I casted a number of baits with no action until I threw my one suick (unweighted natural perch)that has the "death wobble on the rise" and boated a 36" on the third or so cast. Threw that suick for NINE more hours and scored two 33s and a 34. (Also a mid 20s that I shook off at the boat and am not counting.) Only one follow I saw, but it's hard to see ANY follows when it's raining, eh? All fish came from wind-beaten structure, there was no action at all in the calm water.

Al, I would have loved to have you there to man the net, I bet together we would have put 8 or 10 fish in the boat. [:0] But that new big net is a dream for a loner like me, no probs at all. In fact, I can net the fish and just lay the net handle across the wales. No pics because the fish were not big enough, plus it was pouring rain, and all 4 fish immediately swam away with gusto.

I'm on the road for work most of this week and am already excited about going back this weekend. By the way, I was the only boat on the entire lake all day, ah, I love living in da Yoop. That's where I plan to take you when you come to visit, Al.

The exact same thing goes for all of the muskie fishermen out there, newbie or Pro. Just keep the lure wet, eventually things will click!!
I gotta get over there and fish with you, Ranger. Sounds like little lake X was hot in the cold.[:sun:]

Way to go Ranger! I knew I should have put that suick back in MY box after seeing its action. Now I really can't wait for that muskiefirst get together on Lake X in the UP! I bet your wrists are sore from setting the hooks on all those fish [;)]

Great day Ranger..........if you keep at it they will come. No other way to catch em unless you keep your bait wet. That is the best lesson that any one can ever learn. Keep your line in the water. Or as my cousins son says, the best day to go Muskie fishing is any day that ends in a Y. Deadheads rule eh?

I know the feeling of being stuck in a slump....got out of the gate super fast this spring: boated 16 (4 over 40", now I sound like MuskieE) before the S.WI season even open. Then the ARTIC COLD SPELL set in, and I couldn't catch a cold....got out with Worrall on a BUNNY LAKE and didnt have any confidence left (3 months later) and basically said "I know I'm not going to catch anything, but I cast because I cast....". Got skunked that morning, fished the afternoon-night alone, and after telling myself 3 more casts, got a 40" in the boat...not a pig, but a confidence re-storer. Felt good to get slimed, felt like I was fishing again, not just casting!

Dude, way to go! You were just arming up at Cass, I guess. Soon as my shoulder heals, I'll be back out pounding the water, too. You're an inspiration. Just one thing, how far did those 'ski's drag that boat of yours? haha. mm[]

Hiya Mike,

Don't you be doggin' my little boat, man. I'll race you any day, of course you'll have to run in reverse to be fair.

Mmmmmm...best cornbread I ever had.

Ranger, great job, let's hope that ends your slump. Last year was my bad year. I had three fish by labor day and fished every weekend from april first. Most of our days ended fishless. This year is different. 5 fishless days total, three of those five we seen fish and I have 23 fish and 48 in the boat. One of the fishless days was in illinois, the only illinois trip, so maybe I should not count that.[;)]
