How are the lakes looking in central/northern WI? Rhinelander area Steve?

Looking to head out one more time black friday and not sure I'll be able to.

From what I hear, Pelican access is closing fast. A guy at work claims the ice was thick enough at the state landing that it busted the tail lights off his trailer.

Wondering how the smaller lakes are doing. I was hoping to hit a small 200 acre lake for the last time, but I'd hate to drive there and find it locked up. I don't mind breaking a 1/4" or so... May have to head for the river if nothing else.

I was the only rig at the landing on Big Lake of the Cisco Chain on Saturday. Big Lake was open on Saturday, but Sunday she closed up on me. Palmer is completely frozen over. Trout Lake was completely open as of yesterday afternoon.

Thanks for the info guys. I will be in Wausau at the in-laws for Thanksgiving so I am really leaning towards staying there and hitting the WI river for the last trip of the year. I'd probably have better luck there (on the river) anyways. Caught my P.B. there earlier this summer.

It's warmer than warm here today. Ice on some of the lakes that were skimmed over is gone.

Looks like Global Warming has allowed us to get out right up to Wednesday closing......again..

That full week of 80's back in October really messed up the water temps.......

Water temps in Saint Paul small metro lakes were at 42.8 yesterday. Just arrived near Middle Eau Claire north of Hayward last night and the lake is open. if anyone hits up Middle Eau claire before season closes hope you get one of its pigs.

Fished 7:00 AM - 1:30 PM, hanging suckers on every corner of the boat. Never even had a pick up. Tried various depths 10-35'. Didn't do much casting for muskie, got a half dozen short walleyes jigging minnows.
Overall, it was nice to get out one last time on a perfect day with family.
