Location: MN | 9'8" XH Predator + Trinidad 16dc = 2lb Dawg Rod? My 9' XH Predator + Trinidad doesnt seem like it would be a great rod for that heavy of a bait, and IMO the extra 8" would only allow for more flex. I would think that Thorne's XXH Predator would be a better choice (or something comparable) paired with a reel that picks up less line than 46" a crank

| I have the Predator xH and school and wouldn't throw a 2lber with either. I use my Cal stars to throw them and haven't had any issues. |

The xxh is way to stiff of a rod for me to throw 2lbers all day. With a huge bait rod I want the rod to load really heavy on the cast you'll get more distance with a lob from XH then the hard snap from the XXH. Plus when a fish is hooked the it keeps good presure on the fish causing less heartbreak. I wouldn't use anything but my trinny for rubber 47" of line is hard to argue with when angry sox charge the boat.
But what Do I know right? |

| The XH is plenty for those baits, they load well and have plenty of power for the hooksets. |

Location: Right behind you (tap, tap) BOOO | I'm still trying to wrap my head around actually throwing a 2# bait over and over and over... What happens when someone doesn't have a DC reel and they get a professional over run, that has to #*^@ near pull you right out of the boat. LOL

Location: Wausau | I use a 9' Pro Edge St. Croix Big Dawg and can cast 2 pounders with no concerns. Not sure the story behind ProEdge, but the Big Dawg blank does the job. I'd like to learn more from a rod builder about a 9'6" to 10' rod with the same blank.
Casting becomes routine after the first few hours |

Location: Palm Coast, FL | I fish pounders with my Migizi 9'6" one-piece blank through construction with no problem. I don't own a 2-pounder to try out with it. This rod blank is the only one on the market with no extensions, no telescoping and no screw on handles as it is a complete one piece blank. |
